Have Confidence In The Lord

After learning of the condition of Jerusalem, Nehemiah prayed for the Lord to remember His promises to His people and to give him success as he approached the king. As believers, we should also be concerned about the welfare of other believers and ask the Lord to grant us success in all that God calls us to do.

Also, believers should always have confidence in the Lord that He will give us success as we are obedient to His will and calling.

Nehemiah 2:11-13

I went to Jerusalem, and after staying there three days I set out during the night with a few others. I had not told anyone what my God had put in my heart to do for Jerusalem. There were no mounts with me except the one I was riding on.
By night I went out through the Valley Gate toward the JackalWell and the Dung Gate, examining the walls of Jerusalem, which had been broken down, and its gates, which had been destroyed by fire.

As believers, we need to access the situation that we are facing. We should not face our task unprepared. At the same time, we should ask the Lord to examine us.

Psalm 139:23-24 “Search me, O God, and know my heart;  test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

All believers have been called by God to accomplish His Will. There will be times of trial and opposition. It is during these times that we must place our trust in Jesus and not in our circumstances.

Take A Stand For Righteousness

It is sad that the church of Jesus Christ is failing to take a stand for righteousness. By sitting by idly, we as Christians are allowing the ungodly to force us to obey laws that our Lord is opposed to.

Nehemiah heard about the condition of his people Israel and the condition of Jerusalem and he decided to take a stand for righteousness.

What are we waiting for? When will we who are also God’s people take a stand for what is right and just in our town?

Nehemiah 1:1-4

The words of Nehemiah son of Hakaliah:
In the month of Kislev in the twentieth year, while I was in the citadel of Susa, Hanani, one of my brothers, came from Judah with some other men, and I questioned them about the Jewish remnant that had survived the exile, and also about Jerusalem. They said to me, “Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire.” When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.

Nehemiah asked the Lord to remember His promise to His people. (Nehemiah 1:8-9)

The Lord does always keep his promises.

Deuteronomy 7:9 (GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)) “Keep in mind that the Lord your God is the only God. He is a faithful God, who keeps his promise and is merciful to thousands of generations of those who love him and obey his commands.”

Let us remember that we too have been redeemed by Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.”

We can approach God's throne in confidence:

Hebrews 4:16 ‘”Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

As believers in Jesus Christ, we need to ask questions in order to find out what is happening in our world.

Next, we need to get involved, not just sit and watch.

Finally, we need to pray for the Lord to give us strength to carry out the task He has given us.
